Looking for a nice town between Clarksville & Nashville
My daughter, son-in-law and grandbaby just moved to Clarksville and want me to move near them. I have only been once, but wasn't terribly impressed with the city. I am seriously thinking of moving, and my plan had been to move to coastal Georgia, but it would be nice to live near the kids. I'm looking for some recommendations for towns I should check out between Clarksville and Nashville. Low cost of living is important, but I also want a pleasant town, nothing with a boarded up downtown or anything like that. I figure I'll be fine if I am 30-40 minutes from Clarksville.
What towns are worth a look?
TIA!

You haven't got a lot of choices between Clarksville and Nashville. About the only towns of any size are Ashland City and Springfield; as well as the "communities" of Pleasant View, Coopertown, Joelton and a couple of others. I would probably start by looking at Springfield (Robertson County). There is also the choice of looking around more in Clarksville/Montgomery County. There might be an area you haven't visited that you would like. It is an option.
By the way, it varies from where you start and where your daughter lives, but you can get from Nashville to Clarksville in about 40 to 60 minutes.

Joelton is nice, but it's getting pricey. The land there is beautiful, and it's a relatively short commute between Clarksville or Nashville.

Joelton looks to be out of my price range, which is maybe 120K at most. I looked up Ashland City on the forums and noticed where someone said to avoid it. Anyone know why? Springfield looks like a good bet distance wise, what's it like?

Ashland City/Cheatham County has a number of problems, due to their size and location (not because of the people; I have relatives who live there).
I would think Joelton might still be in your price range; although it would be limited.
Springfield/Robertson County is a nice area. Twenty or thirty years ago it was mostly farm country (perhaps the best farm land in middle Tennessee), but, of course, that has changed quite a bit.

I've asked my sil to check out Springfield when they get a chance. I'll ask him to add Joelton to the list and let me know what they think. My daughter would have a good idea what would appeal to me. I'd love a small town with a downtown that isn't dead and that was convenient to both Clarksville and Nashville. :-)

Springfield website
You can visit the Springfield website at:

and the chamber website.

I called the Springfield Chamber, and they were very nice about sending out an information packet.

I don't think any of those towns mentioned have any kind of a "downtown." Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. What you'll probably find are strip malls, with Kroger as the anchor. I'm betting Joelton doesn't even have a movie theater, but it's been a while since I've been over there. Things can change in a month around here with all the construction.
