I know a little about Paris. I grew up in Clarksville, which is the nearest larger town near Paris (it's about an hours drive between the two), and spend a lot of time when I was younger at the lakes in the Paris area.
Paris is a great place if you like outdoor stuff (Kentucky Lake, Barkley Lake, Land Between the Lakes--which is about as big as a National Park, and Paris Landing State Park are all in the area). It might not be as great a place to move to if employment and a relatively short commute is a prime consideration. I don't really know what the employment situation is in Paris at the moment, but I would guess that with the economy the way it is, and Paris being somewhat off the beaten path (except to sportsmen and tourists), that it could be tough to find a job there. Someone would probably have to go to Clarksville to find a good job if they don't have any connections in the Paris or Dover area.
Beside Murfreesboro, you might put Hendersonville on your short list of places to look at. Both Murfreesboro and Hendersonville, with their closeness to Nashville, offer better job prospects.
