Default Where are the Swimming Pools?

Out of curiosity, how come there are so few swimming pools in the backyards of Nashville area residents? Flying out of the Syracuse, NY airport you could see several backyard pools from the plane. I didn't see many pools from the plane while flying over Nashville.

a lot of subdivisions have community pools. IMHO much better than having to take care of your own pool yet close enough to enjoy regularly. My HOA's pool was a selling point when we bought our house.

Also, swimming pools(inground) are very expensive in most of Middle Tennessee because of hitting solid rock very close to the surface, so the prep/construction costs are more than in other places.

Exactly. We hit solid rock 4 feet down. An in-ground pool would be VERY expensive. The thing is, we want a pool, but think above ground pools are tacky, so it looks like we'll have to do without a pool for a while.

yes...the rock is a pain. Same reason few houses here have basements.
