LeeB,
Please come back to this thread and let us know how much you ended up paying for the taxes. It would be very helpful to the next person who has the same question.

I will if I buy the truck I was thinking about. But I need to sell the truck I have right now.
It is a 2008 Silverado LT Crew Cab 2 Wheel Drive with all the bells and whistles on it with only 3500 miles on it.

Buying Car
I have a question similar to this. We currently live in wyoming but will be moving to Tenn. in a couple of months. We really need a new vehicle and are currently thinking about buying it here before we moved, because tax is lower here. Will we have to pay the Tenn. sales tax when we license our vehicle in Tenn. When we moved from TX to Wy we had to pay a tax on our old vehicles to license them here (several hundred dollars for each old vehicle - it was calculated on how much the vehicle was worth). My husband says it is a weird tax that is used here because there is no inspection service you have to do here in WY annually. That true?
Thanks,
Tam

As long as the car is titled and licensed in Wyoming before you move, all you will pay here is license fees. If you buy the car in Wyoming and drive it here on the temp tag, you will have to pay TN sales tax + license fees.

I am not sure and I could be wrong. But when we moved here from California in April I was told we had to own our RV at least 6 months before moving here or their would be a tax. That may not apply to a vehicle..

That could be. If that's the case, TN should only charge the difference between the WY and TN tax.

I thought it was 60 days rather than 6 months; but it's been a while since I looked it up, so I could well be incorrect.
