Question Mount Juliet please

Hello

I am interested on personal opinion of Mount Juliet please

Is it a friendly area?

Is there enough to keep kids occupied and happy?

Are the neighborhoods...neighborhoods or simply a place where houses are placed, where no one talks to each other etc...

What do you think of the area in general?

Thanks for your opinions!

Mia-magination

Mt Juliet is a nice, convenient location; particularly for those who appreciate the airport and downtown Nashville being so close, but want suburban sensibilities or even rural options available to them. New and old sections of town have benefited from recent growth, school systems are good and getting better, and I-40 is a convenient connection to just about anything in the region. To answer of few of your specific questions:

Is it a friendly area?
It has been in my experience and for clients who have recently made the move or who have lived there for years (they range from young professionals to established families - easy condo living, family friendly neighborhood homes, even country living).

Is there enough to keep kids occupied and happy?
Their experiences have included activities like young mom groups, others were tons of youth sports, and music classes…

Are the neighborhoods...neighborhoods or simply a place where houses are placed, where no one talks to each other etc...
Actually both from what i can tell. Some of the neighborhoods are commuter suburbs to Nashville that have mixed results with interaction, some are fairly rural with a little more distance between homes but really have gotten to know their neighbors from time to time, and others in a soccer mom style community with active social circles, busy summertime pools, and toy filled cul de sacs.

What do you think of the area in general?
It’s a convenient location to Nashville, and thanks to the new Providence development spurring on nearby Old Hickory areas, north Mt Juliet areas, and bringing in so many new residents -- Mt Juliet itself is really convenient now too. The schools have done well creating a good reputation too. I like it a lot.

You probably get to hear from residents online here today too…

We've been in Mt. Juliet since '02. In my opinion, it's family-friendly suburbia almost to a fault -- it's easy to recommend the place to a family with kids, or even a childless couple looking for a nice quiet spot with amenities close by, but I'm not real sure what a single hipster would get out of living here!

I've found this to be a friendly place. Folks are sociable, there's a good community spirit and people are helpful. There always seems to be a benefit event of some kind going on. But, as with anywhere else, you generally get what you give on the "friendly" thing. I work at home, so for the first couple of years here, I didn't mingle much, although my wife made friends through a MOMS club. But once our oldest started school and sports, I was absorbed into those networks pretty quickly!

Neighborhoods are a mix, as kpellatiro said. There are a lot of small neighborhoods, a handful of mega-subdivisions, and there are lots of options if you want to have a little elbow room and avoid homeowners associations.

Overall, I don't have any real complaints about living here. I can think of a few things that could be better -- civic planning, for one, but ineffective local government is hardly unique to MJ -- but nothing that makes me want to move.

Mt Juliet is a friendly area. I live about 20 minutes from there and have never seen the same person twice, though. There has been a rapid growth spurt there in the last couple years and it has changed drastically.
There is quite a bit to do, from what I can tell. My kids love Pump It Up. I belong to a local MOPS group, so if you have young kids, I would urge you to check one out.
Not sure about the neighborhood thing, but I do know there are a ton to choose from! If you choose to buy a home in one of the new subdivisions, I urge you to ask to see all of the inspection reports while the home was being built. They built a lot of those houses so fast they never even went through inspections, some of them.
Mt. Juliet is a nice city, if you like cities. It is becoming a big one, and fast. Hopefully the local government and planners will do a better job with the next growth spurt than they did with this last one!

Exislander, what do you mean when you say "options if you want to have a little elbow room and avoid homeowners associations"? Are you pertaining to non-subdivision areas? Where in MT Juliet?

Also where are the boundaries of mt juliet?

There is a north mt juliet road, where MT JULIET is located as per Google maps. however, going down past the I-40, there is a south mt juliet road. is that still part of MT JULIET?

Thanks so much for the info.

My mom is a "city" person yet wants to be close to her grandkids so this would make a good spot to visit while we come up for her

Nashster, yes, I was referring to areas that are not part of a subdivision, or else part of a development but not nearly as dense as the newer, bigger ones. You can find those areas all over.

An approximate boundary of what's referred to as Mt. Juliet -- the city limits are considerably smaller, of course -- would be:

Davidson County line to the west
Old Hickory Lake to the north
Stewarts Ferry Pike to the south (that's a few miles south of I-40)
Highway 109 to the east

Gladeville sits in the southeast corner of that block and some areas west of Highway 109 are technically Lebanon, but it's close.
