TN doesn't really have an aeronautic industry

He works on computer hardware and software right now he is working on a RFID tag for shipping containers. Not necessarily the aeronautic industry, just happens to be a division within Lockheed.

RFID tags - he should find plenty of work in Nashville, check out the distribution centers (around Sidco Drive, 100 oaks area) lots of retailers with shipping and distribution centers. Lebanon TN is also a freight center. Seems like Lifeway Christian Stores has a distribution/inventory center in downtown nashville too. If you husband has RFID skills then he should be in great demand. That is suppose to be the "big thing" in inventory management now and for the future. I use to work for Service Merchandise and worked as a inventory systems analyst.
Try Nashville (better yet south of Nashville is Franklin - Cool Springs area)
Nissan is now headquartered in Cool Springs (too bad they just laid off some folks) but that happens. Especially when a cowboy trys to run a country.
Welcome to Tennessee !

Hi Sissy 910

My husband and I are also moving to TN..we live in Southern Calif. but I'm from the San Jose area..the housing in Los Angeles is 500K for a dump or tear down and over a Million for houses that should only be 300K. Welcome aboard.. I can't believe all the CA people we see in this forum moving to TN.

I am a Southern girl myself and am VERY eager to go back to the South. I am originally from Louisiana and my husband is from New Hampshire. Our jobs brought us to CA where we met and got married. We now have 3 kids and would like a more family friendly area to live in. Besides traveling to see family with 3 kids is not easy, so we'd like to be closer. Tennessee has been my favorite for about 3 years now and I am still pushing for us to move. Our only delay is employment. I am a stay at home mom and will continue to be while our kids are young. The lifestyle in CA is not favorable to a one income family. It is just so busy and stressful here that I want to get out!

We are planning to visit some areas around Nashville in July 2007. Can you recommend a nice place to stay for a family of 5 while visiting in the Nashville area?

THANKS!!!
We always stay at the Hilton in Brentwood--Great location for intelligence gathering...

Hi Sissy910...sorry for the delay in responding, sometimes work interferes with my ability to be on this forum all day

I have stayed at the Embassy Suites in Franklin and i just booked a trip for May4-7 (hopefully to purchase a home) and will be staying at the Franklin Marriott - both nice places.

Can't wait to take some pics and share with all of you.

I'm another resident of Nor Cal who works at one of the nat'l labs. We purchased a farm in Greeneville last year and plan to move as soon as we sell our place. I don't know much about the tech jobs in Nashville as east TN hooked me on the first visit, but Oak Ridge is a big tech area--and not just the ORNL.

We are very much looking forward to moving to TN as we are both originally from the Austin area of TX. Too bad so many of the unfriendly, rude type of Californians have moved there and made it just like the San Francisco bay area--less the beautiful views and wonderful weather.

I'd say Austin TX is what was meant. Austin seems to be the hottest city priced -out californians love because they believe Austin is full of liberals just like SF and LA. Every other person I know seems to be moving there from here.

Austin, TX is what I meant. I apologize for the lack of clarity. And to clarify further; not all Californians are rude people. But it seems that many are very self absorbed.

I have been going to Oak Ridge for many years. It amazes me how many friends I've made there during my trips. Now I seem to have more good friends in TN (hence the move) than in CA.
