Sure, there are nice people in LA, NorCal, and So Cal. I have lived in LA, OC, Sac, and now in the Bay area. I graduated from Stanford and worked there. I have made good memories here and will miss the conveniences CA has to offer. I have made friends in all these locations and still have many of those friends. However, crime rates are MUCH higher in most areas of Ca compared to TN.
At one time, I loved living in CA. I met my husband here and had my three kids here. However, this is not the place I would like to call home, or to raise my kids. I very strongly believe the South is a much better place to raise a family. Probably because I grew up in the South.
Last month we visited TN and absolutely LOVED it!!!!! It was nothing like CA...

Would you be interested in the Camden, Holladay area? It's about 90 miles west of Nashville. Small town area along the TN. River. I own a 3600 sq.ft. home on 7 acres overlooking the TN. River here, but I need to move to move to MS. to be closer to family. You can see the New Johnsonville Plant from my back deck and 2 to 5 deer eating in my front yard.

Add a couple more folk who are transplants from California who happen to love the Nashville are. I retired from San Diego SO 4 1/2 years ago. Shortly after that my wife and I sold our house in Ramona ( a suburb of San Diego) and moved out to the Colorado River in southwest Arizona. After a couple years there, we bought a house in Hendersonville on Old Hickory Lake and, as Tony the Tiger would say, it is G-R-E-A-T!

There are several manufacturing plants in Nashville that would be perfect for an electrical engineer. My husband is an engineer at Bridgestone/ Firestone, there is also the Nissian Plant all within a 15-20 min drive from Mount Juliet, I am a Mount Juliet Chamber Member and would be glad to send you an info packet about our area! We love it here...we just moved into a new subdivision named Providence and couldn't be happier!

You should move here
Hello,
I read your post. My wife and I are Californias that moved to Tn. We relocated to Franklin, and it is very nice here. I was able to find a higher paying job here in Tn as opposed to Ca. We already decided that we will never even THINK about going back to Cali. We are so much happier now that we are out of there. My finacial and family life, and probably my health too has improved so much its beyond words. For us, there was just nothing left in Ca that was worth staying for.

Hi Californialeavin,
I'm happy to hear that you have no regrets about moving from California to Tennessee. I currently live in the Sacramento area and I am fed up with California as well. My wife and I bought a 4 acre lot near Monterey, TN in August. We'll hang on to the lot until we can retire in 7 to 8 years. I hope I can make it here for that long. I'm so anxious to move. You are so fortunate to be in Tennessee. Congratulations!

THANKS!! I'm not sure if Dave's background and interest will fit in the construction field. He primarily work on computer hardware and some software.
