Cali girl in Tn
I had to move from California to Tn when I just graduated from high school and thought that Tn was nothing but dirt roads and racist people. I was surprised to learn that there was more to the city and the state than one would think. You can make good money, pay lower rent as in compared to California, and attend events around the city. Yes, there is the first shock of moving out of beachy, sunny, diverse Cali, but with the right attitude, it can be a great move.

Mt Juliet is a great place to live, but a little pricey. If you're willing to go a little farther from Nashville you have great options in Lebanon and Gallatin. I live in Pleasant Shade, which is a tiny community close to Carthage and Gordonsville-very rural small towns w/ amazing views. Hendersonville is another option if you like Mt Juliet-and a little more convenient to Nashville, I think.

I have a list of the twenty largest contractors in the Nashville area, but it's last year's list. There is a newer list but I haven't scanned it in.
It's a pdf file, so I'd need your e-mail address to send it to you. If you want the list, send me your address by Direct Message.

I moved to Nashville from San Diego back in September, and I absolutely love it. The only thing that's been hard for me is being so far away from my family. However they too have fallen in love with Nashville and have been wanting to get out of California for some time and now plan on moving here within the next year or two.
I think California was an amazing place to live at one point, but because of over-crowding and the ridiculous cost of living, that time is long gone. I think Nashville has many of the qualities that California used to have. Except Southern California was never this green!

Hi Sissy; I moved here from California a year ago. I have family in Florida and Louisiana. I wanted to get closer also. But we have been very dissapointed in Nashville since we arriveed. Our health ins, car ins, food, util etc is way more expensive here. Everything went up. Gas is the only thing cheaper here. I want to be close to my family but we have been very unhappy here. We are trying to move back to California. Housing is also outragious here. Nashville doesn't seem to know there is a housing crisis. Good luck in your move and I wish you more happiness here than we had

We were from the Riverside area. And it is more expensive here than it was in California. Believe me; I am so upset about it because I hated it in California because it was so crowded. It was so nice to get to the area of the country that was green and the air was fresh. But it is costing us more for health ins, veh ins and food. I guess because there is so much more competition in California it brings the prices down. Now the gas in California is much more there than here. But housing now is cheaper in California now compaired to here. We have done our homework before deciding to go back to California. But we'll also make around $17,000.00 more a year and can get a nicer 2 year old home with a couple of acreas of land cheaper than we can get a 30 year old home here. It just makes since to go back even though we don't really want to.
