I am planning a trip next month to visit. We are planning to move to Nashville and are looking for family oriented areas. I have two children ages 7 and 11. Any suggestions would be great

Do you want to rent or own, what's your price point & do you like suburban or urban areas?

I would probably look to rent to own if possible. I was looking north of the city. Not really sure of the areas. I will be visiting first week in April and wanted to look in areas.

Hendersonville is what you want if you're looking to be north of town. And rent-to-own is a bad, bad, bad financial mistake.

What prices do you want? I would say you need at least $220,000 for most new construction but you could probably get into some older neighborhoods for around $160,000. Hendersonville is a very nice city that is really growing at the moment. There are a lot of great parks, a brand new library, and great schools. I would suggest the Beech, Saundersville, and Indian Lake areas of the city.

That is a development in the Whites Creek area of Nashville/Davidson Co. If affording a private school is no problem from you then it might be an OK choice but I don't think it's a great choice for public schools. You can find around the same thing in Hendersonville and you will get better schools and be closer to more and better retail/dining options.

Agreed. Jordan Ridge borders a very undesirable area, although the development itself is new. And you do NOT want your kids anywhere near Stratford High School.

Another suggestion would be Mt Juliet, which is north of City. You certainly could find homes in your price range.
Homes.com - Real Estate and Homes For Sale.

Diane, I think Mr. Juliet is a great suggestion but I think one of us is directionally challenged. My map says Mr. Juliet is due east of downtown Nashville.
