Default Recent Grad moving to Nashville

I will be graduating college in May and am moving to Nashville to be a part of a Nashville Teaching program. I don't know anyone in Nashville, so I am looking on advice about how to find other young people who might need roommates. Where should I be looking to live-I want to be in a safe area, but a fun area with other young 20-somethings! Thanks!

Craigslist will list roommates, but, as always, be careful with Craigslist. Craigslist can be a good tool, but it's also full of scammers (who aren't even in Nashville).

There's also The Tennessean (the major newspaper in Nashville) and The Nashville Scene. They both have classified ads for roommates.

There are also roommate services. I have no idea how good they are.

Your price range and whether or not you actually get a roommate with have a lot to do with what areas we could recommend for you. The area around Vanderbilt and Belmont University would probably be a good choice for your, but it can be a little more pricey than some other areas.

Hillsboro Village near Vandy and the Belmont area, on the west side of town, is much more walkable than Cool Springs. Cool Springs is very suburban. They have any chain restaurant imaginable, so if that's your kind of thing, go for it. Just depends on what you want, Cool Springs, while a great and safe area, you would have to get in your car to pretty much go anywhere. Plus it's at least a 30 minute, give or take, drive to Nashville.
