Dickerson Road Streetscape Enhancement Project
While this is likely to invite the inevitable whines about wastes of taxpayer money, here is a blog (by one of my neighbors) where you can keep up with the redevelopment process on Dickerson: Nashville Buffalo
It has been suggested by MDHA that most of this (sidewalks, statues, lighting, signalization, landscaping) will be done by late spring.

OK, thanks for the information. I will see for myself next Friday anyway. However, from previous posts about the area much more negatives were said than positives. Anyway, I will see, but is it safe to assume Mcferrin and Cleveland are the worst in EN???

At least the sidewalks will give the prostitutes a nice, safe place to walk.

Thanks Carol, I'm really excited about this project, I think it will do wonders for that corridor.

I've been in Dickerson for a year and I've never seen a prostitute in the area. I know from talking to neighbors and local merchants that this part of town used to be lousy with houses of ill repute, drug dealing, etc. but there obviously have been massive changes in the last few years.
And, while much of my area of Dickerson is empty storefronts it is nowhere near as bad these days as its apparently justified old reputation.

Thanks for posting the link.
I work on the other end of Dickerson Pike where it intersects with I-65 and Briley Parkway. I am so happy to see the city is working to improves the lives of those who live and work closer to town on Dickerson Pike.
Dickerson Pike has improved much on my end since I started working at NorthStar Studios in 1996.
We now have the SuperWalmart and Lowe's open across the interstate, which means no more earth shaking blasts. Skyline Hospital also has improved the quality in this area. New businesses have popped up on Dickerson Pike across the street, which was an big empty lot when I started working here 13 years ago.
Hopefully, there will be a day when Dickerson Pike sheds its old image.
