Fun activities for kids? 6 and 4 years old
Hello, my nephews are in town and I wanted to take them somewhere fun during their visit...I thought about the Adventure Science place, but thought they might be too young for that? Or the zoo? They are from Memphis so they've been to a good zoo so maybe not...any suggestions for two boys - ages 6 and 4? Thanks!

I haven't been to the Adventure science center in particular, but I've worked at another science center, and I think kids that age would certainly enjoy themselves. It's certainly a good age to get excited about science.

Go get a Parent magazine. They're free, and they have Davidson, Rutherford and Wiliamson County editions. It will list everything you can imagine and more.
You can find them in grocery stores, schools, and doctor's offices to name a few.

I'm pretty sure a six-year-old would enjoy the Adventure Science Center. Maybe even a four-year-old. I used to go with a friend and her two boys and daughter. The daughter was a little young to enjoy it, but the boys always had fun and they were about four and six at the time.

I believe the OP lives in Bellevue. They have copies of Parent Magzine there in the front lobby of the Public Library.

mm, ok then I'll go with the Adventure Science place then...they just seem a little A-D-D most of the time so I was a little skeptical they could concentrate on it. Thanks

There's also that Aquarium restaurant out at Opry Mills. Most people tell me their kids love the place.
Kids might even enjoy the Opryland Hotel. There's sort of a "wow" factor about the place.

The Science Center has TONS of hands on activities. Perfect for boys who will be boys. Also, don't discount the zoo here. I have been to many zoos, and I really like ours. They always have a lot of shows and hands on stuff as well. Plus the weather is so nice lately.
Are they the "outdoorsy" type? If they are then maybe you could look into doing some hiking at the Warner Parks. Also at Opry there is the Rainforest Cafe. I think they would like either of those restaurants. Then, you could take them to the IMAX for that new 3D Monster Cartoon movie.

So, we ended up going to Opry Mills because my brother-in-law went to a business luncheon for a short time and it was easier to join us later if we went to Opry Mills...will have to save the science center for a later date. Looked at the freshwater aquarium at Bass Pro Shops, then ate at Rainforest Cafe-they loved the animals and the loud animal noises drowned them out-I think it was too much effort for them to be the loudest objects in the room so they didn't even try, ha. Never seen them so quiet. We walked around the Aquarium restaurant and rode a few merry go rounds. They also petted the Stingray at the Stingray Reef I think it was called. Even my 2 year old niece enjoyed everything! I never realized there were so many kid things to do at Opry Mills-I normally just go there for the occasional movie I feel is worth seeing on the big Imax screen. Appreciate the suggestions!
