Very sick, but an unfortunate part of today's world. There is no place immune to this disgusting behavior. It knows no boundaries.
I have a child in the Murfreesboro City School system and each parent received a recorded telephone message prior to this information making the news. The recording explained the situation frankly and I feel it was very responsible of the school system to do so.
It is more important that ever to ALWAYS know what is going on with your children and ask questions, even if they tell you that you are being a pain in the butt, and to let you children know that they can talk to you about ANYTHING.

This is just sick! I can not believe NO adults with kids in schools around there knew about this. Few things really stick out to me in this story:
"The home at 133 Alton Road is no stranger to controversy. Levine's father was Morris Levine, a Metro councilman from 1947 to 1951 and a prominent attorney, who threw lavish Halloween celebrations each year, drawing hundreds of families. In 2000, police were called when a newcomer to the neighborhood was startled to find sexually explicit magazines in the party favor given to her husband. Morris Levine, who died in 2001, referred to them as "daddy bags," according to a previous newspaper article. "
"Stories date to 1970s
Police said they've spoken with adults who recently acknowledged they took drugs and had sex at Levine's home in the 1970s and 1980s, when they were teenagers. "
and:
"Levine told detectives he's "fascinated" with the boy. He told a detective that "society looks at this differently than I do," according to the federal warrant."
Now, you can not tell me that no one ever questioned the morals of this guy. I mean if he had no problem making that kind of comment to the police, I will put money on the fact that some sort of similar "flag" conversation has happened with fellow teachers at any of those schools he taught at.
There is not a punishment harsh enough for this sick pig.

Obviously, according to the story, there were no complaints about this guy.
They found tapes of Davidson and Williamson county teenagers in his house. Very disturbing.
This guy really made his rounds didn't he? Myspace, most likely let him reach out across three counties.

My question is how did these Williamson County teenagers get to Nashville in the first place? Were their parents not aware of what was going on in their childrens' lives? It's not like there is a mass transit system to get them from Williamson County to Nashville.

Indeed. It was very good that the school made the first contact with parents. Every generation says this but in our case, it's very true. There ARE more dangers for kids now...so many more avenues for them to have contact with people who are potentially dangerous to them. We didn't have cell phones, internet, myspace etc. But you should still be able to believe your kids are ok at school, darn it. Makes me relieved that my kids are out of high school.

In today's paper it said no Rutherfrod County student were involved. I bet a whole lot of parents here were relieved to hear this information.
Kids aren't safe anywhere anymore, but parents should be checking out what is going on their home computers. I'm glad I don't have a school age child either anymore, but if I did, I would seriously consider get software for my computer that monitored the keystrokes and websites visited.

I believe Murfreesboro City Schools handled the situation wonderfully and yes, thank God no Rutherford County students became victims. That says a lot about the parents' involvement in their childrens' lives and having their priorities straight as responsible parents.
I am always checking the computer to see what my daughter has been doing and the computer is right here in the den, so when she is online, one of us is always right here. It will only get harder as she gets older though.

That why I mentioned the software. It allows you to see every keystroke typed on your computer or your childs computer and all the websites they visited. It may sound like spying, but in today's world it is better to be safe than sorry.
