However, I've only lived here for 10 years.
I worked in Williamson County doing residential construction for 8 years and really had no major problems with people from Brentwood or Franklin. Most have no major worries like people from other places or atleast that's the persona they give off. People in Brentwood often will act like they are better then you. People in Franklin seem to go over the top in trying to act like they are better then people in Brentwood. The people I feel sorry for are the people that live in Spring Hill but live on the Williamson County side of the border. They get no prestige and have to pay outrageous property taxes to have the name " Williamson " plastered on their license plates.

Exactly! Spring Hill is getting a reputation as a bunch of poorly planned roads off of which poorly planned cookie-cutter subdivisions sit.

And Saturn isn't really Saturn, right? They were building Chevrolet Traverse crossovers there. Are they still building there or plan on building there? Seems like a different story each time you pick up the newspaper. Based on how it looks now, they should have kept it just farm land.

I don't know. I heard they were going to close it down as a part of the GM bankruptcy but I have no idea.

Spring Hill residents in Williamson pay an extra $225 each year in property taxes on a $250k home over what the Spring Hill residents in Maury pay.
I don't see an extra $18.75 per month as outrageous, maybe you do. This is especially true when you look at the test scores of the students attending schools of the Maury side of Spring Hill vs. the Williamson side of Spring Hill.

One lady I did work for lived in a subdivision that was split between Williamson/Maury. She lived in Williamson and her neighbor one block down the street in Maury and she said her property taxes were $2700 and her neighbors was $1,400. She may have exaggerated, I don't know but Yes, I consider any amount of money more that you have to pay for living on the wrong side of the county line outrageous.

That lady was off her rocker. All the county and city tax rates are posted on the web.
I would argue that living in Williamson County and paying the extra $18.75 per month is living on the right side of the line since:
A. Kids will probably get a better education in Williamson County and
B. The house will sell for more later on because it is in a better school district.
And don't be so shortsighted that it's presently slightly cheaper on the Maury County side of the line. Once GM goes belly up and shuts down that plant, Spring Hill is going to begin taxing residents on both sides of the line once that GM gravy train of tax dollars goes away.

I would imagine that when Saturn goes belly-up, Spring Hill won't have many residents left and will be stuck with a LOT of foreclosures.

In Franklin/Brentwood, it doesn't matter what your color/race.
It's about how much money you have.

greencard is correct. Also let me add, as somebody who grew up in Nashville, that when it comes to areas that are good for family, Franklin/Brentwood isn't the only game in town. Don't sleep on Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville. Actually if I was going to move my family back to Nasvhille now, I would personally pick one of those two areas over Franklin and Brentwood. I know the thread was only about Franklin and Brentwood, but the "good place for families" aspect overlooks those two other areas that I find just as "good" for families when only Franklin and Brentwood are considered.
