Franklin vs Thomspons Station (Thompson's Station: house, relocating, office)

Hey all...so I just heard that I got the job in Franklin so my wife and I will be relocating out to the Nashville area this summer...
The office will be in franklin and we are trying to get a feel for homes in the area. We really dont want to spend more than 200k and there are a few homes in franklin for that much but they dont really inspire us. As a result we have started looking further out and Thompson's Station seems interesting. Seems like you get a lot more house for the money. We have a few concerns though. I'll be working in the cool springs area and we've heard that the commute from Thompson's Station in the morning and afternoon can be bad. I would expect to be in the office by 7:30 AM and leave to come home most often between 6 and 6:30pm....anyone have an idea of what we could expect? What other issues are there with that area? Are there other communities--maybe closer to downtown or within 20-30 min commute of Cool Springs???
