Default Commute from Gallatin area to NE Nashville

Hey. We are going to be moving to the Nashville area and my wife will be working NE of Nashville proper (a couple of miles outside downtown North just off 31) and we're considering possible communities. We want to live outside the city where we can have a good amount of land and we are wondering about Gallatin area and other places NE of Nashville. We don't mind a commute around an hour or shorter in exchange for the ability to have 5 acres or more. How is the Gallatin commute to the area described (Northeast of the city-proper, i.e. not completely into the city)?

I would say 45 minutes top with normal traffic. Maybe 30 minutes without. It would really depend on what part of Gallatin though...If you want a short commute but an area with lots of acreage properties I would recommend the Beech/Shackle Island area of Sumner Co which includes the Sumner Co portion of Goodlettsville, Northern parts of Hendersonville, and Western parts of Gallatin. Some roads to check out would include Long Hollow Pk, Center Point Rd, Tyree Springs, Happy Hollow Rd, Hogans Branch Rd, and Latimer Ln. These areas are a mix of rural and suburban but you are very close to I-65 and Vietnam Vets Blvd.

Default What about Bethpage?

Thanks for the advice. We saw a house we really liked in Bethpage. I realize this is pretty far out, but we aren't averse to a commute of about an hour or so. Do you think the commute from Bethpage to a few miles north of downtown nashville would be much longer than 1 hr? Computer map programs say 50 minutes or so, but they usually don't factor in traffic.

Just wanted to let you know that we have an express bus service from Gallatin/Hendersonville during the week.

This service was started in Sept. of last year, and is doing really well. Pickup/let off areas in Sumner county are at Walmart parking lot in Gallatin and Kohl's parking lot in Hendersonville.

The cost is $3.50 each way. This is really great: saves on tires, gas, vehicle upkeep.

It might pay you to look into this. The bus we ride is a Grayline bus. Very comfortable. Has a restroom and tvs on it. A very comfortable ride. A good way to make new friends.

Welcome to the area.
