Attorney moving to Nashville
Hi. I am an attorney with plans to move to N'ville this summer. Any feedback on the market for lawyers ? I am licensed in Missouri and would plan on taking the TN bar in February 2010.
Thanks.

I am originally from Nashville and tried to find a job there coming from Chicago. Nothing.
The big legal market in Tennessee is Memphis.

Welcome to TN
I don't have any employment advice for you but good luck.
I think my husband's boss is from Missouri.
Our son is in law school in NC and says the legal profession is not too good there. Hope he finds a job to pay off those loans!

the market is soft and no one will take you seriously unless you can either be admitted on motion or have already sat for the bar.

I have seen a few ads for attorneys at a couple of corporations around here recently -you can run some searches on the internet job sites. Also, you may want to consider doing some volunteer work, the Legal Aid Society holds pro bono clinics and you would have an opportunity to meet other attorneys. There are legal search firms you could hook up with as well, you'll see their names in the job listings, some is contract work but it could always lead to permanent.

Memphis has more corporate headquartered there
and as for doing the contract attorney work, most of the positions require a TN license.
