Default Franklin Special School ?

What is the Franklin Special School District? We are looking into Franklin/Brentwood area and was confused when I heard this term. Is it just a normal school district or is this for children with special needs? Any and all details is very helpful, I have a son age 12 and daughter 6.

it is a district within Williamson county. It is only K-8 and then its students attend Williamson county high schools.

What distinguishes it from the regular Williamson County School district?

higher taxes. Some say it is better than Williamson, some say it is worse. It does have more kids on free and reduced lunch than Williamson because despite perceptions there are poor people in Williamson county.

It also has a school that is a balanced calendar meaning they go year round with longer breaks btwn terms and a shorter summer vacation.

Oh Thank you for that info. So there are certain subdivisions that go here? or is a certain town, location within franklin?. All of the schools that keep coming up with the houses we are looking at are not listed as FSSD, how would you know if the home you are looking at is?

Go to Franklin Special School District - Home and click on the parent information tab. Near the bottom of the drop-down is a zoning map tab.

Yes, we do pay more taxes, but it's more than worth it to us. Our class sizes are lower than required, and we have been very happy with the teachers and administrations of FSSD schools.

Good luck with your move!
