Demo's is a wonderful locally owned place for a nice dinner or lunch. they have spaghetti you can get with a variety of sauces all made from scratch there in the kitchen. and they make a mean steak as well.
another place to try is allegedly Jimmy Buffet's favorite Burger joing. it's called Rotiers
Rotiers
2413 Elliston Pl, Nashville, TN 37203 Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 327-9892
On Jimmy Buffett's list for Top 10 Burgers in the U.S.A. But aside from that, Rotier's serves up a mean-ass burger (actually a grilled cheese with a patty shoved in there). The diner atmosphere is pretty unchanged since it first opened fifty some-odd years ago. Sneaky call would go to the fried pickles. Think Sling Blade. Hours: Open Mon-Thu 10:30am-9:30pm; Fri 10:30am-10:30pm; Sat 9am-10:30pm

Arnold's Country Kitchen. If you're visiting Nashville, you have to eat at a meat-and-three. Arnold's is great -- good food and cheap. Just off of downtown, 8th Ave S.
Another local gem is Prince's Hot Chicken. Don't worry about the neighborhood surrounding it -- the trip's worth it. 123 Ewing Drive.
You can google both of these for reviews.

Non Chain Restaurants
This is a list with some great privately owned places. We don't care for chains much and have found some great places.
Let us know where you went and if you liked those places!

You can also do a search on this forum. We talk food often Just promise you'll have breakfast at the Pancake Pantry. It's required. Don't be discouraged by the line. It's there for a reason.
Enjoy your visit!

Arnold's is a treasure not to be missed. It just won a James Beard Award for regional cuisine. Please note it is only open M-F for lunch (11-3). You might also want to grab lunch at the Oak Bar in the Hermitage Hotel. The food is pricey, but very good. The Oak Bar's bathroom was also voted best public restroom in America. It is done in an Art Deco style, if you don't feel like eating at the Hermitage well worth having a drink to check out the loo.

Now that I re-read the OP, I think it was probably a Fan Fair visit. Come and gone.
