Young Married Couple Moving to Nashville
My husband and I are 25 and getting ready to move to Nashville. We will be looking for houses in the 150k range. We are young and want to be close to night life, but are also looking to have a baby in two years and would like to be somewhere safe. Where would be the best place for us to look for houses?

Well that depends on what you're looking to do, and what your definition of "close" is. You mentioned night life, so I'm assuming you mean bars, clubs, etc. It is going to be difficult finding a house in your price range close to night life. Try Hillsboro Village and West End, although those are pricey. You might also look at some of the downtown neighborhoods such as Germantown. Parts of East Nashville might also be an option in your price range.
If a 15 min drive is "close" for you, then you might also look at Donelson, Hermitage, Bellevue, and Goodletsville. You might also consider Mt. Juliet.

What area of town are you guys going to be working? Commuting can be a pain from certain areas to downtown during drive time!

Yeah, just go to the Inglewood Kroger on a week night. Seems like I notice more and more young couples everytime I go there.

I was an East Nashvillian, but had to move to a subdivision in the suburbs for the kids. In East Nashville for $150K you're looking at a fixer upper or a very small house. I had a small house there, but it was the right size at the time, however, my son couldn't walk to any friends houses, because there weren't many kids around.
For $150K you can buy a nice, large, recently built home in Antioch. Antioch is not the hippest place, and has a bunch of pockets with bad reputations, but there are some great areas too. Try Cane Ridge. It's nestled away in a country setting, but minutes from Rutherford and Williamson Counties. You can quickly access the amenities of Brentwood without the price tag. You can take I-24 or Nolensville Rd straight downtown.

I would suggest East Nashville if you are wanting access to clubs and bars downtown. That is realistically the closest neighborhood with your price point. Inglewood, Rosebank are pocket neighborhoods within the East Nashville that offer homes within your price point. My children attend school in East Nashville and I have lived here for close to 7 years and love it! If you want some decent proximity to downtown and still stay in your price point but have a more suburban feel, then I would suggest Bellevue as it's within a 10-15 minute drive to downtown.
Good luck!!
