Another fine example of the sensitivity of Tennesseans. So many people here just can't take a joke....

Since I have lived here, I have found the exact opposite to be true. When native tennesseans hear, or in this case read a good joke, they laugh as loud as the rest of us transplants do!

To the OP, I would get a realtor who deals in rentals, to find you a house to rent. I would be willing to bet you could find a small home, in your price range, right in Smyrna. I am more familiar with Murfreesboro and I know for sure you could find apartments in that price range here, with nice amenities that are new, clean and safe. Carrington Park, Woodgate Farms and St. Andrews apartments would be my first choices in Murfreesboro. They are very close to I-24. I believe the commute to Smyrna would be like 20 minutes. They are also close to Stones River Battlefield, which is a really nice park that has a greenway for walking.

Good Luck!

You can also go to Realtor.com and put in your request for rentals and the area as well as price range. You also can search the surrounding areas(5,10,15,20 miles or by towns). Hope this helps. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
