Default Interracial relationships in Nashville

My boyfriend and I are thinking of moving to Nashville in the next few years. We both have to finish contracts at hospitals here in Long Beach, but for now we are doing our homework.

Here is my question. We currently live in Long Beach, CA where anything goes. He is black (from Nigeria) and I am white as can be. We are cool with it, but he is concerned moving to an area that has less black people. He doesn't associate super well with African Americans, unless they tend to be more affluent and I always joke that he is blonde on the inside.

I'm just trying to guage how well we would fit in. We are both Christian, want to have a fairly sweet family life, with a few kids.

I lived in Nashville ten years ago and from my experience I think most people in the metro area would be rather tolerant, what do you think?

I think most people in Nashville, regardless of their personal feelings, or whether they're black or white, have a "live and let live" attitude. It's definitely considered bad form to directly confront someone about personal issues. These days interracial relationships aren't that uncommon anyway; I work with a white guy who's engaged to a black woman.

Of course, you might occasionally run into a jerk here, but I think that's probably true of any place.

Will you ever so often feel like someone is staring at you and disapproving? Probably. Will it become a problem or be something you have to worry about all the time? Probably not.

Just my opinion.
