We ae bringing 2 who have been on a farm or with an invisible fence/dogwatch system and love walks, swimming in the river, etc. Are there dog friendly parks, creeks, etc we should know about?

haven't decided yet,in part because we want a dog-friendly place. Needs to be within an easy (25 min) commute to the east side of Franklin where one of us will be working. Ideally we could walk to a dog park or place they can swim,a cafe,an indie movie or playhouse, a couple small interesting restaurants and a place that had live music a couple nights a week. So we have thought near old Franklin,Leipers Forge, or the Vanny/Belmont West End area of midtown. Very open to suggestions as we are brand new to the area.

Leipers Fork is beautiful, but you're somewhat isolated. Great community, though. Very active, just not the options you'd have in Cool Springs or West End. Closer to the square in Franklin would give you the walkability you're after with a better commute than LF or WE. You'd have Pinkerton Park for your dogs, too.

Good luck, wherever you choose!

You mentioned Vandy/Belmont...there's a dog park just next to Centennial Park off of West End Avenue. I'm pretty sure there's a dog park in Franklin too...I think I've seen it...I just can't place it now. Sorry!

Come to the East Side, where the poor and the affluent meet to enjoy diversity. Shelby Dog Park is a wonderful place to meet people . . . and dogs! Centennial Dog Park is also cool. Regardless of where you end up, DEFINITELY come visit Shelby Dog Park sometime - Check out houses near 5 points and near Shelby Park. Or try Franklin for a hefty dose of whiteness and affluence. To each his/her own is what I say. Vanderbilt area is cool too but aside from the university, there is little diversity there. For even less diversity, check out Greenhills, Brentwood, Bellemeade or Franklin.
Good luck with your move.
