There are any number of small Mexican restaurants around town these days. Some of them so authentic that the signs and board menu are all in Spanish. I haven't been to many of them, so I can't give you a recommendation, but they are around.
Now, how about some barbeque places? ;-)

OK....since we'll be in Nashville.....and we do like Q...where is the best barbeque joint?

Oh, here it comes.
Everyone has a favorite.
Hog Heaven by the Parthenon, Jack's on Broadway, Whitt's-everywhere, etc.
You'll have no problem finding excellent BBQ!

I'd veto Whitt's if I could.
Hog Heaven is definitely a hole-in-the wall place, but the BBQ is okay.
I've heard Martin's in Nolensville is very good. Tennessee Crossroads even featured the place on a special segment on BBQ in Tennessee. I've never been unfortunately; driving from Bellevue to Nolensville for BBQ seems a little excessive. However, the next time I'm in the area . . .
If you want Memphis style BBQ there's a place in MetroCenter (near my office). I dislike that sauce they want to put on it however.

Martins is really good. I've been a few times. It is a looonnng drive out there though. Or it seems like it is anyway. Alleycat...I agree with you on Neelys. I thing their bbq is pretty good...but I don't love their sauce. What I do love at Neelys are the beans and the cole slaw. I don't normally like slaw, but I crave theirs. I'm not a fan of Whitts. Jacks is pretty good. There are so many different bbq places...it's hard for me to remember them all. I used to like to go to Carl's Perfect Pig (I think that's the name) in White Bluff....but that one really IS a long way out there.

Yeah, Carl's is still there.
That's two votes against Whitt's.

Okay, we don't go to Whitt's either, but they stay in business, so I figured someone must love it!
That's 3

I think of them as the McDonalds of bbq. They've got the locations and the food is not horrible...just nothing special.
Glad that Carl's is still around...I may have to take a trip out there soon. As I remember though...Carl has weird hours or something on the weekend.

It's not that bad of a drive from where I live in Bellevue, but it probably is too far off the beaten path for the original poster.
