Best Mexican, Thai & Pizza restaurant
My wife and I will be making a visit this month to check out Nashville. While we are there, we definitely want to check out the local restaurants. Please tell me about your favorite restaurants, especially Mexican. Not looking for the chain type of restaurants. Hoping to find authentic places. We love to eat at hole in the wall neighborhood joints!

Las Palmas is a local, hole-in-wall type of place. One is near Vanderbilt, the other is on Charlotte Pike near White Bridge Road. Personally, I prefer San Antonio Taco Company, which is also near Vandy. I'm not saying either of these are the best Mexican restaurants in Nashville, but might be what you're looking for. Both tend to be crowded at lunchtime.

I was about to write SATCO too. Yum! Cantina Laredo is good too, in the Gulch area.
As for Thai, my favorite is Jasmine. It's in Brentwood, though. Right off 65 at Moore's Lane, but not exactly convenient for a quick visit to Nashville.
Have a great time!

La Hacienda on Nolensville Road is really good for Mexican food. As far as pizza, I like Mafiozas on 12 South. Favorite Thai is Sukho Thai near Opry Mills.

For Pizza, but not the take out variety, try Finezza: Finezza Italian Bistro

My favorites of the following categories include:
Mexican: La Hacienda on Nolensville Rd (authentic) or Cozymel's (nicer Americanized)
Thai: Thai Spice in Franklin or Jasmine in Cool Springs
Pizza: Joey's in Brentwood

Mmm...I love me some La Hacienda on Nolensville Road. So does my friend from Mexico...it's definitely authentic. I suggest adding at least one taco al pastor to your order :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. My wife and I go to Playa Del Carmen Mexico on vacation and all of the best places down there have tacos al pastor! We love the tacos al pastor! This place is definitely on our list. Please keep the suggestions coming. We are considering a move to Nashville and it would be really great if there were good Mexican food available.

With the increased percentage of Hispanics in the area, that really shouldn't be a problem.
There are any number of small Mexican restaurants around town these days. Some of them so authentic that the signs and board menu are all in Spanish. I haven't been to many of them, so I can't give you a recommendation, but they are around.
Now, how about some barbeque places? ;-)

We like Palmas Verdes in Hermitage. It's owned by the people behind Las Palmas. Though both have great food, Palmas Verdes is more like a sit-down restaurant, while Las Palmas are mostly in former fast-food places.
My new favorite is the Burrito Jalisco.
