I remember talking to an real estate agent some time ago about good places to buy wholesale/salvage/cheap supplies for home renovations, but I can't remember what she told me! She mentioned a place south (I think) of Nashville, that had a while array of very cheap but good quality flooring, tiles, and maybe even furniture...any ideas where this could be? I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind (even enjoys!) rummaging through a bunch of junk to find a gem, and I'd like to employ this hobby of mine while updating my house. I'd like to avoid lowes and home depot if at all possible. Thanks!

You might try the Habitat HomeStore: The Habitat HomeStore | Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity (http://www.habitatnashville.org/homestore/ - broken link)

The Habitat Home Store in Franklin has some good deals now and then. You have to stop in on a regular basis, but it is worth it. We were able to buy some new white satin name brand paint for $10 a gallon, but it was gone quickly.
