Agree with Martin's BBQ. Great food and if the weather is good a great drive from downtown.

If you plan on going to Martin's BBQ and enjoy wine...a short trip further down the road to Arrington Vineyards is well worth it, IMO. Free tastings and nice, relaxing scenery.

Oh yes, especially the Leiper's Fork location. That can be combined w/ a nice trip on the Natchez Trace Pkwy as well...

CantWait...I think you mentioned you were going up towards Hendersonville when you come. If that's the case, there are a few great spots up there. I'd suggest Larriviere's in Gallatin (on the square...neat old building and ambiance...good food too).

Yes, we are planning on driving to Hendersonville, Mt Juliet, Brentwood, and Franklin during our trip. Probably Murfreesboro too. More than anything, we want to get a feel of the city and it's surrounding towns. We probably won't do any typical sight seeing because we can do that when we move there! Thanks for all the suggestions!!

If you're in Murfreesboro, try The Chicken Shack. Not quite as good or renowned as Prince's, but still one of the best for hot chicken.

I've never heard of hot chicken. My husband and I do like spicy food so we'll have to try that. Thanks

Check out this article in The Atlantic about "Hot Chicken":

In Nashville, Chicken With a Kick - The Atlantic Food Channel

Hot Chicken is truly a Nashville experience. It does not get any more authentic than this. There even is a summer festival to honor hot chicken.
