Default Need Maury County Regional Hospital info PLEASE!!!

We just moved to Columbia and are expecting. Maury Regional is only 2 miles from our house and I found a Dr. I like alot. However, I have heard not too good info on Maury Reg. Hosp. I would like to hear from people that can give me your opinions about the hospital...especially if you have experience with the labor/delivery dept. there. I was advised to go to Williamson Co. in Spring Hill but don't want to have to make that drive if it is not needed. I am considered a high risk pregnancy but the Dr. I have is great and I know Maury Reg. also has a NICU so I am hoping that I can hear some good reviews...thanks for your time!

My son, who is in the health care business says Maury Co. Regional Health is a very good hospital. My husband & I are just moving to Columbia, so our son is very interested in our health care.

I know that most hospitals have a certain rep; I've lived in two communities where the local hospital had a (deservedly) bad rep.

I haven't heard that about Maury Regional...in fact, what I've heard is the opposite. I don't live there, but in a nearby county. I know quite a few folks that over the years have gone to the larger Maury Regional for one thing or another...

When i was in school i did some rotations at maury reg. L and D...i went in with low expectations and left with a completely different mindset. It was great...the staff, the Docs the nurses...everyone. If you have a doc that you love at MR then that is what you really need. My only concern is that you are high risk, and the MR NICU might be good, but there are GREAT NICU's in nashville. This is something that you need to discuss with your Doc and come up with a decision and a plan B if necessary. It is actually kind of common for high risk deliveries (the serious ones) to be transfered to nashville either during labor or post delivery for the care of the child. Williamson Med Center is good, and it is actually located in Franklin, not Spring Hill. I spent quite a bit of time there as a student and ended up working for the hospital for a few years.
My concern for you is "worst case senereo". Not know what kind of high risk you are it hard to say, but i would personally want to be as close as possible to definitive care if something were to take a bad turn.

Welcome to Mid TN and please sit and have a BIG chat with your doc, and if you do not have a 100% comfortable feeling about MR then look at some other options...your gut will tell you. GOOD LUCK!!!
