I took a road trip there this week, to try to get a better handle on this area. So my questions are:... Is this a waste of time? Are there a million people fighting for 100 jobs? Some locals I talked to said that there's some job protectionism going on here. They didn't seem to know if that was true across the board for all industries though. I checked some job boards and didn't find much. Is the job market here mostly underground or is it really as bad as it looks?

We are faring better than most cities. Health care is our leading industry here. Look up how many hospitals there are, go to them and ask for work. You just might get lucky I am sure there are many health jobs available especially to an experienced person.
