Default Need advice on 37207 zip code

I'm looking to relocate to the area between Douglas Ave. and Cleveland St. in the 37207 zip code. Is this an okay area to live in? Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Default That is Cleveland Park

Hi there,
The area you have described is the Cleveland Park neighborhood. I live there and would be happy to answer any questions you have.

I think it is a great place to live, but in order to say whether the area would be right for you, it would be helpful to know more about your preferences.

In the meantime, here are some threads relating to Cleveland Park (bear in mind that some go back as far as 2007):

You might want to check this article in today's Tennessean out. This is happening in the district Cleveland Park is located in. Whatever your opninion is, I think it bodes well for the future of the neighborhood that people feel that passionately about the area.

Speaking of Cleveland Park, does anyone know the status on the Winberry Project (Vernon & Barbara Winfrey's project)?

It depends on who you ask. It is in the Council Lady's interest to encourage divisions along those lines, so you are getting a lot of references to race.

The truth is that there are African American voters (both long-term and new residents) that support Jamie and African American voters that support Pam.

At one point, Pam was a relatively decent Council member. She worked well with neighborhood groups, attended meetings, and worked with residents to meet their goals (she was never very good with communication, though). It is interesting to note that the majority of the people that she recognized in 2005 as working hard to improve District 5 (see RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-) are no longer among her supporters.

Having worked closely with the Council Lady in the past, I can say with authority that she stopped being an effective representative for this district towards the middle of her first term. I can't tell you why and I won't speculate as to why. All I know is that she stopped being responsive to her constituents' requests for assistance and she started advocating for business owners and landlords that don't live in the neighborhood rather than for 5th district residents.

Yes, District 5 has improved a great deal during her time on Council. Unfortunately, a lot of those improvements have taken place in spite of our Metro Council Member rather than because of her.

Default Winberry Place

It has been reduced in size and scope, due to the economic times, but it is still planned. Mr. Winfrey recently moved his barber shop down the street so that demolition can take place. I have given up trying to get a target date on the project. It has moved so many times for various reasons. The word from the Winfreys is that it is still going to happen, though. I would guess that demolition will happen in fall or winter and new construction will begin in the spring of 2010. That is, however, completely a guess.
