Default SAn Diego Family Relocating

Hello

We are looking into moving to the TN area from San Diego CA. It's very busy out here and the fast-paced life is beginning to be too much for us. We are a christian-conservative family who homeschool, and are looking to get some property in a semi-smaller town. We aren't really interested in the big-city areas at all. In fact, we have been looking to Lobelville but I think the commute would be too far for hubby. He is an electrician and would want a decent commute time to work say, 30-40 minutes. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

When we come for a visit, where would you suggest we look?

For a small town you might consider Greenbrier in Robertson County or White House in Sumner County. Greenbrier is about a 30 min commute to downtown with traffic and White House is maybe about 45. If you've ever seen the Hannah Montana Movie...a lot of scenes were shot near Greenbrier and the neighboring town of Ridgetop.

What do you mean by "semi-smaller town." I lived in north county and the "semi-smaller towns" up there (Encinitas, Carlsbad, Rancho Bernardo) are all bigger than anything outside of Nashville except for the Cool Springs region.

Lobelville is in Perry County which has the highest unemployment rate in the state. There's not much in Perry County and having drove through the county last year, I'm not for sure if there's a red light in the whole county. If you are looking west of Nashville, try Dickson which has more restaurants/businesses and more of a small town feel than Lobelville. It's also only about 40 minutes into Nashville. There's really not much in Lobelville. While I actually do see some Perry County cars coming into Nashville in the morning when I commute, I'd say it's 65-70 miles one way (too far for me). I would also agree with the poster about Robertson County. It's one of the few counties around Nashville that you can still get the small town atmosphere without being in the urban sprawl of Nashville. You may want to look into the Pleasant View/Coopertown area.
