I am looking for a trail or something like that in the Exit 1 area or close to Exit 1 in Clarksville TN where I can go and walk with my dogs. I know they have a dog park, but I am looking more for like a trail or something. Does anybody know a place where I can go with my dogs and go on longer walks? In my neighborhood there are no sidewalks and often dogs are on the loose so some park or trail would be great. Thanks in advance.
Silke

Silke, happy new year to you. Have you been to the greenway perhaps? Other than that, Rotary Park would be a good place. The fairgrounds was a very popular place for taking your dogs and for Family activities but sadly this is gone now.

Hello!

Rotary Park is great but it's long haul from Exit 1. Check out the Park at Boy Scout. Check out the Billy Dunlop Park. You are going to love it! City of Clarksville (http://www.cityofclarksville.com/parks&rec/parks/billydunlop.php - broken link)

I like the greenway. Nice place for walking a dog. Rotary Park isn't bad either, but I pick up a lot of ticks there, even with repellant. I miss the Fairgrounds. I enjoyed walking along the river with my dog, and around the pond, and the dog park, rarely picked up ticks. The dog park that replaced it off Peacher's Mill isn't as good. The park itself isn't bad, but the people aren't very nice and they bring aggressive intact dogs and don't obey the park rules. Had an incident there where we had to call the police on a woman who went postal on everyone. The parks director said they were going to place a staff member there on weekends to make sure rules are enforced, but I haven't been back yet to see if that has happened. I'd rather make the drive to Nashville to the dog park at Warner, as the people are much friendlier and so are the dogs. Warner is also a great place to walk dogs, if you don't want to use the dog park. It's worth the drive.
