Default Commute From 30 Miles Out?

Just a general question to those who in a general radius of 30+ miles out:

How far out of the city do you live, and how long is your commute?

Right now, I'm looking at 30 to 40 miles out of the city. Anyone on here out that far? How is your commute and how long is it?

Thanks and blessings, Shen

topropeprincess is on a distinguished road
I live in Murfreesboro. It is about 30 miles south, southeast of Nashville. During the middle of the day, the commute is around 30 minutes. During rush hour it is anywhere from 45 minutes (that's good) to 1 1/2 hours depending on if there is a wreck or not. I would say the average is about an hour commute though. Now, I also drive 80mph so that might make a difference. Someone else living in this area might have a totally different time.

It would depend too on what direction you're going, and exactly where you're going. If you look at the six directions of the three Interstate highways that bisect Nashville, there will be a difference in the time it takes because of the roads and the amount of traffic. This is a rough guess of the time factor during rush hour for a 30 miles drive:

I-40 West will take the least amount of time (35 to 50 minutes).
I-24 West, I-65 North, and I-40 East will take a little longer (40 to 60 minutes).
I-24 East and I-65 South will take the longest (50 to 80 minutes).

Again, those are just really rough guesses.

There are also certain bottlenecks that occur almost everyday on certain stretches of the highway. You might almost get to where you're going . . . only to be slowly down for the last two miles. Sometimes there's an alternate around the bottleneck, sometimes there's not.

I pretty much figured that the different interstates would differ, depending on population, terrain, amenities, etc the closer into the city you got.

Are the healthcare insurance companies primarily clustered in one area of the city, or are they scattered about, in the city downtown, Brentwood/Franklin, Hendersonville?

blessings, Shen

There are good hospitals all around Nashville and surrounding counties for the most part. However, the most prominent hospitals are in Nashville and mainly along the West End corridor (Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Childrens, Centennial, Baptist, St. Thomas); whenever advanced medical care can't be given at one of the other hospitals, this is where they send people.

But what about the insurance companies? Are they scattered about, or primarily clustered in one area?

I lived 35 miles away from my previous job (my house is on the north side of Columbia and I went to Nolensville Pike just north of Old Hickory Blvd, so it was 65)... there wasn't a day when it didn't take me an hour to get there. Especially during the school year. A freaking nightmare. (thus, why I am moving to Chicago very soon.)

Scattered. Metro Center, Briley Parkway, downtown, Goodlettsville, etc.
