Nashville weather Q3
I am keeping track of my questions just to see how long it will take before I have all the answers regarding Nashville Anyway it is getting close for our trip to Nashville and I am starting to check on the weather - my question is are you experiencing a heat wave or is this normal? How are the winters? I guess it is good my daughter's apartment has air conditioning. Now to research all your good restaurants.....with air conditioning.

where will you be staying?
It is starting to get hot........but not that bad...not too humid yet...in the high 80's
the winters are mild...it may stay in the low 30's or 40's..its really very nice.
....and the rain...it comes on quick and storms...then gone!
None of that grey for months like in the Pacific NW

May was somewhat warmer than normal, and much drier. I can't remember a May when we had less rain.
It's still warm now and predicted to be warmer later this week. This is more like July weather.
But whenever someone ask about the typical weather in Tennessee, whether winter or summer, the first thing I say is it can vary. We can have winters where it gets below 0, or where it snows several times; or it can be like the winters we're had for the past few years: very little snow, and only moderately cold. I'd have to look it up, but I think the coldest temperature we had anytime last winter here in Nashville was about 13 degrees.
You can plan on it getting hot and humid for several weeks in the summer every year; a few days where it's very hot (high 90s or over 100). And you can plan on it being cold in winter; nighttime lows in the teens or twenties, daytime temperatures from the twenties to the forties. But I've seen days in January where people were driving around with their convertible tops down.

Well I just looked at the weather.com forecast and "it can vary" says it all. I was happy with blueyes "low 30's or 40's", but alleycat added "we can have winters where it gets below 0, or where it snows several times" took me back to an experience I had in Canada I do hope that you had enough rain so that everything is green when I get there. I hear that TN is beautiful....

Below 0 temperatures aren't rare, but they are uncommon. Nighttime lows in the twenties and teens would be more typical. Then the next week the lows might be in the mid-thirties and highs in the fifties or sixties. Anyway, it will be cold in winter here, but not bitterly cold except for rare occurances, and it will be hot and humid in summer. The only time it really bothers the locals is when there's a continuous stretch of the same weather; say, two or three weeks where it's in the mid to high 90s with no break in between.
It's still green here, but this year has been hard on the vegetation (and terrible to farmers in the area). First we got that late freeze, then it's been hot and dry.

There's an old saying that if you don't like the weather in Tennessee, wait a few minutes cause it will change. These last few days have been beautiful sunny, but breezy days. But we all know that's just a tease.
