I'm looking at moving to tn at the end of this month and thought of the springfield area. I will have one of my kids and all my pets with me, lol. I have 4 dogs and 1 cat. I would need a place to rent with a fenced yard that takes pets. Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks.

We moved to Coopertown in December of 04, from Greensboro from Lexington mass from Dover NH, Hence the screen name ‘exyankee’ I thought I might offer some helpful observations.
Springfield is the place we go to shop from Coopertown/Pleasant View area. It’s a Two McDonald town, (if you count the on inside Wal-Mart) but it’s on the slow side of being a real nice small town. One old theatre, some cafes, lots of antiques shops. No ‘real mall’ but a Lowes but not a Home Depot. The economy is slow, you will see some empty retail spaces and they will stay that way a while. Compared to Atlanta, is a real backwater. That said it’s a great place to live because of taxes and property values. We have 3.7 acres, a 4 B2B home with wrap around deck and way more trees, oaks, sycamore, walnut, cherry. Than we know what to do with. We have a year round creek a large woodshop and even a stray dog that was waiting for us when we showed up with the moving truck. And it cost $130K ish. Investment wise I feel the NW area of the Nashville metro area will be the growth area. Traffic on Hwy24 is the lightest of all the 6 major spokes of the freeways; we have lots of wooded areas. Because the local economy is nothing like a real big city there is not much money for parks libraries and various culture centers. The Springfield library doesn’t have a periodical section due to low/no funding. Traffic can be a problem on HWY 431 to Hwy 24 to Nashville in drive time. Hwy 65 also clogs up at drive time. But the back roads are lightly traveled. On thing to consider, hwy 49 from Hwy 24 to halfway to Springfield is in Coopertown, infamous for its “aggressive enforcement” of speed laws. On local resident calls the local Police “armed revenue agents” Its 50 thru Coppertown but changes right at the city limits to 55 to Springfield. And 30 MPH means 30!!! on the back roads. Hope that helps John |

ozzmanluvsiron sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on your reply. It would be great if you could find me something in Springfield. I was looking in Dickson, but there is nothing there that I can find. I moving on the 31st. Shoot me and email if you find something. I'm up to 3 more cats and now it is 4 lol and 1 less dog. Still need the fenced in back yard.
