Default Older neighborhoods

Where are the older neighborhoods around Nashville? I've seen houses from the 50's - anything from the 20's and 30's?

A more general guestion, how did the city develop? From the North or South? Is there a trend or pattern?

Yes, there's houses from the 20s and 30s and earlier (remember, Tennessee became the 16th state in 1796). Some of the older neighborhood include Edgehill, Edgefield, Germantown, Slyvan Park, along West End, and several others.

It gradually grew out from the center. The one big thing that happened to change Nashville though was the East Nashville fire.
