Hi everyone,
We're moving to the area and I'll need to locate a housekeeper. Can you tell me about what price range to expect?
We're looking at houses that are around 2,500 - 3,000 square feet. That would be about 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and a rec room plus the other usual rooms.
Thanks!

Default me again

Also, if you could recommend a housekeeper that would be great!

It really depends... I had one try to charge me $200 and she was awful. I now pay by the hour and get much better results.

I've had them charge around $110 each time for a house about that size, but that was a few years ago. My kids are old enough to clean now.
I think brentwoodgirl uses one currently.

I simply adore servants (but can't possibly afford one at the moment

In the past, I've always tried to use individuals, as opposed to the large franchise outfits. They seem to charge a premium and yet underpay the maids.

Yes, and their turnover is so high that you never know who will show up in your house from week to week.

We also relocated from So. Cal, and were shocked at what housekeepers cost here. Ours is $30 per hour. We tried to find one cheaper and called one on Craig's List that advertised $20 but we couldn't get her to actually show up. In L.A. if you paid $20 you'd have them fighting over the job! So we use her only for a thorough monthly cleaning.

I sent you a PM. We love our housekeeper. She cleans for most people in our cove. She is very reasonable and does a fantastic job. I have paid anywhere from $80-$170 to get our houses cleaned. We paid $170 to a service to clean our old house (2800 sq. ft) and the stole $160 from us. The police recommended not using cleaning services. They said they get thousands of complaints of stealing by the cleaning companies since they use different people with minimal if any background checks. So they recommend finding an individual that people you know use and trust.
The cleaning service was cleaning our house because I had just had surgery. What kind of scum steals from someone recovering from major surgery? And I tipped them too, before I realized they had stolen from us. That cleaning cost me $360, and some loss of trust in people. And they did a bad job to boot. Stay away from Showplace Cleaning.

I agree, brentwood girl. I try to stay away from the big franchise house cleaning companies here. Thanks for recommending your independent housekeeper!

We use Molly Maids in Franklin. They come every 4 weeks and charge $186. Our house is 3200 sf, hardwood on ~1500sf of it, tile and carpet on the rest.
