I saw a large, round, white bird on the topmost branch of a tree. Might have been an owl.

As I walked out of my garage, a possum walked in.

Possums like to check neighborhoods for food left for outdoor cats and they are happy to climb stairs to get it. One of my Texas friends said they are seeing a big black cat and a possum eating side by side.

I do feed my stray kitty outside, and when it's cold out, I make him a shelter in the garage with food and water. The mangy varmint was probably staking out his kitty fort.

Did he at least wave at you as he went in spinx?

I swear, possums are the rats of the south. Once it gets cold they start looking for a way into a garage or shed. I saw one as roadkill today, near a downtown area. They used to say that only cockroaches would survive a nuclear war. I think possums would too.

I work out in the foot hills so I see critters all the time, this weekend I saw Coyotes, owl's, rabbits and a pack of wild dogs, oh yeah and a sheep that got left behind last year it has survived very well.

While driving through the neighborhood today, I saw a tree literally full of turkey vultures, just perched on the branches...
Saw the same thing last weekend, same area just a different tree.
kinda spooky...them just sitting there in large numbers like that.

That sounds kind of creepy. I went out to the lake on the weekend, and I saw some ravens diving at roadkill. They are such scavengers.

Does that mean I should consider changing my status line. Maybe peace isn't a possum after all?? Yeah, I think I will change it..to something more appropriate for the time being. I've never seen a possum, but when satx posted a picture of one, I remembered thinking it was so cute...

About a month ago my dog started barking at the front door around 4 in the morning, that usually means a stray dog is out front so I opened the door for a look and closed it pretty quik there was 6 raccoons at my front door just passing through the area I guess, the strange thing about it was we had a stray cat hanging at our house, this cat seemed to take up with any other cat or dog who was around, I called him Buddy because he seemed like every animals little buddy and when the Raccoons left he went with them they just acted like he was one of them.
