Today I saw a Yellow-billed cuckoo...brown w/long tail that has tear-shaped white spots...very secretive bird, I was happy to see one.
My son was watching a Yellow billed cuckoo with his binoculars, when a Ruby Throat Hummingbird flew into his field of view and landed in its nest. This was two firsts for him. He drove 18 miles home and got me and my wife and showed us the Hummer's nest. That was our one and only Hummer nest.
Not sure those are the words I would use. When a large flock of predatory birds suddenly appears: slightly alarming, might be the words.
You're right, but I like their evil, well placed symmetry. Also that blue sky is beautiful..not enough of that around here for days now. I am still seeing roadkill skunks (which is totally unusual for this time of year). Our weather in this part of the Canadian prairie, is really off balance this year.
I was thinking of the neighborhood pets. Cats are out and about, and our neighbors have one of those little taco dogs. Nice snack for a flock of fearsome birds.

Just kidding!
I know what you mean. We have lots of owls here on the ranch. We have to babysit our puppies when we let them out. They're still snack-sized.
