Thanks, both. And yes, he does. It may well be that his young'uns were nearby. From my observations, Cardinals are the most vigilant Dads in my bird world. I've often seen juveniles being escorted/taught/minded by the male. I think Mom Cardinal's job is pretty much done once the kids have left the nest.
Truthfully, I don't think birds are angry. Their facial features are rather fixed. Unlike expressive human features. Hence we misinterpret and anthropomorphize.
