Luckily it was one of our rainy days so it more or less washed itself off.

I've also seen birds bathing in a puddle by the road while waiting at a traffic light. Right out in public!

Saw a reddish bird outside of my bedroom window this morning.....did not look familiar, as in "what the hell is that?"

Stood up on a stool to look closer, it was a female cardinal. Male was chasing her, she would be in one spot, he would come to that spot and she would jump to another. He would follow, and she would jump elsewhere.

It was pretty cute.

She was playing hard to get! They are beautiful birds and I never seen them in my neighborhood.

Aww, that's too bad. They are my favorites, so beautiful. We have a bunch of them.

One year I was able to watch a nest of hatchlings in "bird school" for days. It was very cute, the parents showing the babies how to find and catch things in the grass, etc.

Cardinals are among my favourites too - especially the youngsters. I love photographing the wee ones when their parents bring them around to my feeders.

Below is a pic of one of the fledglings on an early visit.

Isn't is funny/amazing how such a raggedy looking thing can grow up to be such a beautiful creature.

I was just about to say that. On recent walks I have seen lots of male birds trying to get the attention of picky females.

Saw one male bird chasing another male away from his turf - in flight. Fighter jets have got nothing on those flyers.
