@puginabug - last year the hubby had 4 hummer feeders out. Mercy! They kept him hopping. And they were so mean to each other. This year he has put out only 2 but put some distance between them thinking that would keep them from dive-bombing each other. NOT! We always thought they were so cute & sweet (in magazines). Those boogers ARE cute but greedy, not sweet! They will chase off the butterflies from our butterfly bush.

Yes, before I actually had them I used to think that hummingbirds were tiny, fairy-like gentle creatures. That image couldn't be farther from the truth!

They are extremely territorial and chase each other constantly!

Such gorgeous birds, though, and so graceful.

They're just doing their jobs as hummingbirds.

Golden Eagle perched on a fence post. A couple of posts down there was a raven.

^^

I've seen red-tailed hawks on posts and rails, swirling over fields and generally being hawkish.

Lazy birds!

I often see bald eagles over a section of WA-522 at Lake WA's Northshore on the Lake Forest Park side. There are a pair of them nesting somewhere near there, because I also see them when kayaking the lake. I always wonder why they scout over the highway, and whether they would actually brave the traffic to pick off something if it looked juicy enough.

I remember seeing bald eagles in the Aleutians. I remember one was atop a utility pole, wings half spread out on a gloomy drizzly day (in other words, a normal day in the islands) drying.

DH, Bigun and I were walking on the East Lake Sammamish recreational trail this morning and were startled by three does, two quite young. It gave us a thrill!

Cool. I've always liked seeing deer alongside the highways. Not on the highways tho.
