Probably the "wife" telling the "husband" something.

I have a family of robins nesting on top of the light on my garage. The babies just hatched the other day, so I can see their beaks open above the nest, waiting for food.

I have a bunny in my back yard, but don't know if I have a nest of babies there.

I'm in my 3rd year of hosting Purple Martins and I sit on my deck and watch and admire these beautiful birds. In the last 2 weeks or so they've been busy building nest, gathering mud from my garden to build the front of the nest just inside the entrance. Lately it has dried up a bit and they've resorted to getting mud from a ditch line behind my garden. I walked down by the ditch line last Sunday a noticed a commotion in a small pool of water. A closer look revealed 3 snapping turtles fighting over and ripping to pieces a Purple Martin.

Have a cuckoo that comes every evening and calls out...they are so distinctive in their sound....and loud too.

Lots of Titmice, Nuthatches, my little darlings the Carolina chickadees, Cardinals, and Blue Jays. Carolina wrens.

At the beach, a lone great blue heron...fishing in the sea.

Little green anoles....small lizards that dart and jump and provide entertainment for my indoor cats (through the windows).

At night, a barred owl. And one young possum...know I am not supposed to feed them, but:
put out black oil sunflower seeds and my cats get a visitor to watch at night, through the slider door.

I've seen a few things that quite excited me up here in the Dakotas. the most exciting was one night on a back road down near Pine ridge a Badger decided to cross the road in front of me. I stopped to let him cross. the rascal stopped and just plopped down as if to say, "This is my road" He stayed there for a good 15 minutes completely ignored the horn. I was not about to get out of the car.

Today while walking by a lake near my house I saw a nesting pair of common loons along with lots of barn swallows and red-winged blackbirds. Other birds were common yellowthroats and yellow warblers. There were also painted turtles and muskrats.

So yesterday, during picnic and sister's home, we were treated to the arrival of a Western Tanager. I had never seen one before.
What a beautiful bird he was. Sorry, but he came around, and hung about for only a few minutes, and moved on, before I could get a pic.
