A pair of bluebirds were inspecting a birdhouse in my backyard this morning , a good 5 or 6 months before nesting time. They were most likely the same ones that nest in my back yard every year but in a different location.

I saw a group of cormorants on a wooden structure on the water from the distance and a bird holding a fish with its feet fly up to a tree about to have lunch. This with a very good binoculars.

Maybe an osprey? They are well-known here in NJ and they are fish-eaters.

I didn't get a chance to identify the bird, it was whitish in color and about the size of a large sea gull. All I saw was the fish being carried while flying. Perhaps an osprey.

I saw my boy redbellied woodpecker at my peanut feeder for the first time since it got chilly. He and his mate were around all summer, but I suspect they were having a grand old time eating insects. He sure is lovely.

The picture shown looks what I say through my binoculars, the bird carrying the fish like that; above my head but not directly. I am beginning to think I saw the osprey that day.

Our little couple are gone. [sad]

...and the osprey too

But we did notice a fox by the pond at night. Also, the weather has been warm (unusual for Nov)
so we took a drive and saw beautiful Lake Michigan.
