My Grackel's are BACK! They were making such a racket on my banister as if to say "we're back, we're back, hey youuuuu, we're back!"

bjh - I read about fallow deer when I looked up albinos. These are definitely something different.

First time I've tried posting a link, so not sure if I did it correctly.

From the Virginia Dept. Of Game and Inland Fisheries FAQ's.

And I was wrong - this genetic abnormality does have harmful physical conditions.

My cat on the lanai sprang to attention. I got up to look and first thought it was a full grown fat cat. But it was a hawk just a few feet away on the ground eating something. I ran for the camera but it was gone when I got back. This pic looks more like it than any other Florida hawk pic I can find. Pretty sure it wasn't the red-tailed hawk.

They dined for hours. No one had to excuse themselves.

Yesterday at the lake I saw two roly poly beaver strolling on the side of the road. Today I saw a scared little hummingbird bumping his beak in the garage, and I opened all the doors so he could have as many ways to find his freedom as possible. Today on the drive home, I saw some deer, and two young dead bears on the side of the road. One appeared to be about two years of age, the other bear was much younger.

No, the bears were not shot. They both appeared to have been crossing the highway. So sad. There is a real lack of food this year, and people seem to forget that we are invading "their" territory, so a number of bears this year have been shot. A strong suggestion has been made to our provincial government to put a feeding program in place for the bear population, similar to what is done in Minnesota. I think it is a very necessary and good idea.
