I saw about four or five different breeds of birds and a squirrel!
Is this a Blue Jay or a Blue Bird? Or what??? I think s/he is pretty anyway!
No, the bears were not shot. They both appeared to have been crossing the highway. So sad. There is a real lack of food this year, and people seem to forget that we are invading "their" territory, so a number of bears this year have been shot. A strong suggestion has been made to our provincial government to put a feeding program in place for the bear population, similar to what is done in Minnesota. I think it is a very necessary and good idea.
Maybe we could send you some of our overpopulation of deer. Within the past couple of years I've seen deer in the day time in relatively built up suburban areas near busy roads, including a deer hit by a car one evening. Srsly, I hope they set out some food stations for the bears.

Thre is an overpopulation of deer too. So many get him every year from crossing the highway. There are signs everywhere.."Deer Crossing". The Minnesota project needs to happen. Sometimes people at the lake leave their garbage out(instead of taking it back to the city or the dump), and that resulted in another young bear getting shot on the weekend.

What prey do bears eat? They're more omnivorous than felines or canines, but they must catch something.
