that really is a tiny thing. can they even sting when they're that small?
all the rain we had last week is really bringing out loads of mushrooms. wish i knew for sure which, if any, are edible.
I didn't want to find out if they can sting at that age. My guess is yes, but I am NOT going to find out. This one got smashed. In the past, I pick them up and set them down outside.
I see a lot of them.
Trivia: There was a sea scorpion that was 9 feet long in the past. It was in the Triassic or something like that.

i never saw any when i lived in oklahoma [apart from the emperor scorpions i used to raise in an aquarium], but a friend of mine who had been stung by a bark scorpion - the kind found in OK - claimed it was like a very bad hornet sting..
and some non-mushrooms. these are indian pipes, which are basically plants with no chlorophyll that parasitize tree roots. seems pretty late in the year for them to be out
^^^^G-r-e-a-t photos, ub...does your area have a mushroom-hunting group/society??
Indian pipes........you sound like a biologist?? Do you know of "Indian tobacco"? Not sure the right scientific name, but my dad would dry it and smoke as a kid...it doesn't smell very good to me! Very pungent.
some more mushroom finds..and some non-mushrooms. these are indian pipes, which are basically plants with no chlorophyll that parasitize tree roots. seems pretty late in the year for them to be out
Definitely some fungus among us. Saw a mushroom in the yard just the other day.
