Since we have this new listing ,I will ask this question,a mystery.
We live in North Florida and last year we noticed the appearance of some gecko's around and under our buildimg's.We saw them thru this winter, probably well over a dozen, some big and some small and around April, all in one day every one has disappeared.Does not make sense.

I'm in the Tampa area. What I've noticed is that when geckos (I'm assuming they're gecko) appear outside my lanai or front door, the chameleons disappear. Chameleons climb around all over the screen while the gecko dashes in and out from underneath the house. Same as yours, gecko appearance is off and on but I have no lizard knowledge to determine a reason. I'm back in Florida after 35 years in Dallas and enjoy seeing chameleons again. They're just cute and charming. Plenty of geckos in Dallas but very different from what I'm seeing here. They sometimes find a way to squeeze into the lanai. The cat gets after it while I dash for a box or something to trap and take it back out. In the meantime, the tail has dropped off and I get to take it to trash while it's still wiggling.

Edit: Just did some browsing to see different types of geckos in Florida and maybe the lizard that makes chameleons disappear isn't a gecko! Also find this about the gecko.

"Most geckos are nocturnal but some species are diurnal, meaning they are awake during the day. Diurnal geckos, also known as day geckos, tend to live in areas such as Africa, Madagascar and islands such as Comoros and Seychelles."[LEFT]

Gecko or Anol? Anols are pretty common in south Florida. Predators think of them as snack food.
