What do yall think of these pythons? With virtually unlimited food supplies, warm weather, and almost no natural competition, their population can explode.

What do you think need to be done to stop them?

I am curious if the pythons have cut down on the number of nutria? I really don't even know if nutria are a problem in the Florida Everglades? Nutria are also another imported pest that have spread across our Country.

I have watched the programs on TV where specialist go out and catch these snakes. I am curious if the snakes can be trapped? They do hunt by the smell of their prey – or is their hunt based more on opportunity? Would rodent trails and bait lure them into a redesigned large 'minnow' style wire trap? That would be a live trap and as long as it was checked frequently any indigenous animals/snakes could be released. Maybe the idea would not work on the snakes?

if you could somehow convince china that they're an aphrodisiac, they'll be endangered in a matter of months.

Florida's governor is a tea bagger and doesn't want to spend any money on anything, much less the environment. Oh, he does want to spend money on the lawsuits related to the various laws he passed and they are gradually being ruled unconstitutional.

Anyway..no Nutria are in Florida. They do have West Nile Monitors that are creeping in, and they will be a problem much like the pythons as their population grows.

I doubt there will be enough money to spend to get folks to round up the pythons. Just too many of them in remote areas and the cost to get people out there isn't a priority. Until humans start getting hurt or killed.

Once the pythons start settling in residential areas, then the issue will be taken more seriously.

I think people who release exotics into the wild should, when caught, be subject to severe fines.

Selfish idiots...
