It has been speculated that Baroque painter Caravaggio (ca. 1600) may have prepared his canvases with a powder of dried fireflies to create a photosensitive surface on which he projected the image to be painted

On May 4th 1932, a steamer moving through the straights of Malacca reportedly spotted a line of sea snakes 10 feet across, which ran parallel to the ship for over 60 miles before disappearing. Their destination was unknown!

Rabbits can't vomit either. They are fairly early evolutionarily and predate that defense mechanism. They also have to eat their own droppings to get the proper nutrition out of their food - grass and similar vegetation is very difficult to digest. Cows, which evolved later, solved the digestive problem with a second stomach.

Of the 970 species of birds known in North America, only the Yellow-billed Magpie of California has its entire global range within the boundaries of one state or province.

(Before somebody nitpicks this to death, yes, I know about the Santa Cruz Island Scrub Jay, which is currently (and disputably) listed as a separate species, as are several other birds that are restricted to isolated islands. The Yellow-billed Magpie is the only one whose species status is widely agreed upon and has a range and habitat not restricted by natural geographic barriers. The magpie has simply chosen, for reasons of its own, to never fly out of California.)

This may be un-PC, but here goes:

what do Morgan Freeman and a Polar Bear have in common?

They both have white hair and black skin (literally black in the bear's case).

Red food colouring is derived from crushed bugs. That's right, everytime you drink red cordial or anything with red food colouring you're eating bugs.

That sounds totally gross, not something I want to think about when using red food coloring. Learn something new every day.

On the animal kingdom that do not vomit, I wish my house cat never did so.
